WebSphere Project Manager

Tasks the role will be performing:

• Defining and managing project scope, schedule and budget
• Managing project teams in the development of business cases, requirements gathering, business and technical documentation, testing and deployment planning, risk mitigation strategies and project status reporting
• Acting as manager to a staff oriented in matrix management techniques, including negotiating with senior management on resource allocations, project responsibilities and tasking as well as mentoring and training resources as necessary
• Communicating project status to team members as well as management including project status presentations to executives both inside and outside the Agency
• Functioning as a facilitator to clarify business and technical requirements which cross project team boundaries
• Identifying project risks and dependencies and providing implementation alternatives to mitigate project risk related to scope, schedule and budget
• Performing all tasks with strong written and verbal communication skills

Requirements for the position:

  1. Minimum of 84 months experience with multi entity project teams in the development and successful implementation of multi -million dollar, multi- year development projects.  
  2. Minimum of 84 months experience implementing projects utilizing industry standard project management and software development life cycle methodologies, including iterative project planning tracked via a Project Plan, identification of project risks and implementation of risk mitigation strategies.
  3. Minimum of 84 months experience managing project teams developing in IBM WebSphere Portal utilizing JDK 1.5 or above using Requisite Pro, HP Quality Center and/or Quick Test.
  4. Minimum of 60 months experience implementing deployment strategies spanning multiple entities, which includes risk mitigation strategies associated with ensuring implementation success, dissecting deployments into manageable risk adverse phases, and involving both Agency and Vendor teams across highly available and scalable multitier applications using Object Oriented or Service Oriented Architecture.
  5. Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
  6. Agile or Scrum Certification
  7. Minimum 48 months of experience in managing Application Development projects using Java technologies with an Oracle database.
